Mission
The Georgetown Gourmet Society was created as a social outlet for sharing good food in good company. We believe in the power of food to foster cultural understanding among our members in a welcoming environment.
Alex Cope President |
Alex grew up in Boca Raton, FL and studied History and Psychology at Vanderbilt University. Prior to arriving at Georgetown to pursue his MBA, he worked in marketing at the Corporate Executive Board and then as a financial analyst at Hogan & Hartson, an international law firm. Alex has been cooking for close to 20 years and enjoys making a variety of cuisines. Some of his favorites include American southwestern, Italian, and Indian. He has made everything from cookies and truffles to hamburgers and Persian leg of lamb. |
Kalyan Achanta VP, Logistics |
Kalyan was born and raised in India and came to Missouri in 2001 for a graduate degree in Engineering. Being a staunch vegetarian and seeing the lack of availability of veggie food, he began cooking at home. This developed into a passion, and now he LIVES TO EAT. He has explored vegetarian cooking in Thai, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, and most importantly Indian cuisines and would love to try a mish-mash of world cuisine through the GGS. |
Adrienne Feil VP, Public Relations and Membership |
Adrienne is a native Washingtonian whose first job was as a pastry chef, working on breakfast items, breads and desserts for a French café in Northern Virginia. Her freshman seminar in college was “Food as Culture in Modern America,” so she is a firm believer in the importance and power of food. After four years of healthcare consulting, she is trying to return to her foodie roots. Her ultimate goal is to work in marketing for a socially responsible food company. |
Jey Cho VP, Finance |
Jey’s favorite type of food is Italian, his favorite restaurant is Osteria La Buca in Los Angeles, and his favorite chef is Mario Batali. Jey joined the Gourmet Society because he thinks the best way to meet people is over good food. He’s looking forward to a lot of it over the course of the next few years. |

Jasmin Guleria, Secretary |
Jasmin is a restaurant-reviewing, bakery-hopping foodie who loves trying new restaurants, new cuisines and especially new cupcake shops! She hopes to share her love of all things food-related in the GGS, while also broadening her kitchen skills to more than just sweets! |
Mara Krier Social Chair |
Mara is a first-year MBA student at MSB. She received her BA in International Studies at American University and spent 5 years working at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, first in the Latin America Division (traveling regularly to Ecuador, Haiti and Nicaragua) and then living for 2½ years in the Philippines. Through her global travels, Mara developed an interest in international cuisine and how it contributes to culture. She hopes to share this interest with other students through the GGS. Her other interests include languages and scuba diving. |
